Is It Too Soon To Get Botox?

We are asked many questions about Botox, the most popular being:  How soon is too soon to start using it?

To answer this, we need to know why we start using Botox. As we age, we start to develop fine lines and wrinkles through our constant facial movements. Some people may have more or even deeper lines and wrinkles, depending on genetics and one’s lifestyle. External factors, such as smoking, sun exposure, poor diet, and climate can also contribute to the development of wrinkles. Anti-aging products may help slow down the aging process of your skin, but they do not prevent movement in the face.

Botox cosmetic (Botulinum Toxin A) temporarily paralyzes facial muscles and results can last from 3 to 6 months.  That’s why more and more people, even younger ones, are taking action against aging through Botox injections. It can be used in the forehead, frown lines (lines between the brows), and crow’s feet (lines around the eyes).

Cosmetic injectables, such as Botox, can be used on people as young as 18-years-of-age. Many patients in their early 20s are bothered by developing lines and wrinkles, want to prevent them from turning into deeper folds, and wonder if they are qualified candidates for the procedure.

The short answer is YES

Preventative Botox is definitely a great addition to an anti-aging routine. As the saying goes “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”  The earlier you slow down the use of facial muscles, the lesser lines and wrinkles you will have to deal with in the future.
